our name, as you might expect we have organised several trips to the European
Alps. In recent years, we have been to the Saas Valley in Switzerland, the
Ecrins in France, the Dolomites
in Italy, and the Stubai
Alps in Austria.
Normally the club has one 'official' Alps meet in the summer, and members
also go independently on non-club visits.
Once there, there are many games to play, walking, mountaineering on 4000m
peaks, via ferratta, sport climbing, rock routes, etc. The club has both
camped and used apartments in the past, making use of huts on longer or
higher routes.
A trip to the alps is a must for an aspiring mountaineeer which can demand high levels of fitness and slick technical work, a chance to put those practiced skills to good use.
